Allard Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Clinic foud on the basment level of the lois hole hospital.
The office:
-opened for now every friday
-very clean open and new looking
-three exam rooms
-volunteer to escort women through tunnels to ultrasounds and or mammography at hys center on the day of their appointments. digital images and assessment by radiologist ready by the time they return to clinic for appointment
-10% poulation is from northern and rural communities
-HBOC has grown more than expected
-shelly is the nurse navigator
-no signage yet, only on website
-Psychologist specializing in high risk
-Gyneco-oncologiest (every second friday)
-many bathrooms (for those who have tea cup badder)
-recently been a push in Alberta Health Services to do more out patinet proceedures and minimize hopsital stays
- over 30 clinics are found in the lois hole hosputal; fertility, high risk preganacy, menopause, pelvic pain, etc.
-telahealth is readily avaiable for saving pople hvaing to drive great distance to discuss things or do follow up appointments not requiring physical examination. Royal Alexandra hospital alone has 5 stations
